Support for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Ogun State (SOVCOS) was conceptualized in 2009 with the aim of supporting orphans and vulnerable children who are faced with challenges posed by loss of parents, poverty and negligence. OVCs are young people who are between ages 0-18 and have lost either of or both parents. These children form a part of the primary focus group of the organization that need to be guided to achieve their goals and ambition which would translate into a secured future, an improved quality of life for the children as well as sustainable development for the nation.

In response to this YFSI decided to contribute to an improved quality of life for OVCs in Ogun State by increasing access of VC to comprehensive care and support services including health, education ,nutrition, protection, psychosocial and household economic strengthening. This was achieved through capacity building, direct support provision and organizational mentoring, advocacy and community mobilization.

So far YFSI has supported 6751 VC and 2275 household across health, education, nutrition, protection, psychosocial and household economic strengthening services with assistance from 33 volunteers and 8CBO spread across 5 LGAs (Odeda, Abeokuta south, Abeokuta North, Ifo, Obafemi Owode) in Ogun state. Over 12 savings and loan associations have also been established with over 200 caregivers also benefiting from Economic strengthen opportunities such as business development, loan to boost businesses and start up grant as the need is required.
